About the Report Quality Monitoring Committee

With more than 20 years of experience in financial reporting and corporate finance leadership, James Kasim is a certified public accountant in the state of California. His core competencies include tax strategy, financial reporting, treasury management, and debt structuring for publicly listed companies. James Kasim has also served as a member of the Report Quality Monitoring Committee of the California Board of Accountancy.

The Report Quality Monitoring Committee is a self-regulatory committee charged with reviewing select financial reports and promoting compliance with industry-held reporting standards and accounting principles. The California Board of Accountancy, which was founded in 1901 with a commitment to regulate the practice of accountants, oversees the committee.

Should the Report Quality Monitoring Committee find a licensee noncompliant with industry standards, it is responsible for disciplining the licensee. The committee can order the licensee to participate in a variety of industry-approved educational programs, and it can take further disciplinary action if necessary, in accordance with California Business and Professions Code Section 5100.
