James Kasim, a California-based certified public accountant and corporate finance professional, has worked as a CFO and managing director for major real estate investment firms in the Los Angeles area. Outside of his day-to-day work responsibilities, James Kasim maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
In its efforts to support the accounting profession, AICPA oversees a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year. Each fall, the group holds the AICPA Leadership Academy, which provides early-career accountants with the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in the industry.
Through the four-day program, participants are given the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, build new professional relationships, and discuss the issues and trends currently driving the accounting profession. To qualify for the AICPA Leadership Academy, applicants must be between 25 and 35 years of age, an AICPA voting member, and an active member of a state accounting organization with no less than three years of professional CPA experience.
The next AICPA Leadership Academy will be held October 2-6, 2016, in Durham, North Carolina. For more information, visit www.aicpa.org.
